Disasters have a long history of spawning mental health problems, both acute and long-term. Less is known about infectious outbreaks and even less about pandemics given their rarity. This session will review what we know from the past and what we are learning from the emerging plethora of research into the mental health sequelae of COVID-19, considered as both public health and a socioeconomic crisis.
*Review history of impact of disasters and infectious outbreaks on mental health
*Describe emerging research on the mental health sequelae associated with COVID-19.
