CDI is the most common healthcare-associated infection in the United States as well as the top cause of death amongst patients with gastroenteritis. Management goals center not only on treating the infection but also on preventing recurrence, in other words, producing a sustained clinical response. Antibiotic stewardship is an additional goal toward CDI prevention. Here, we present a quickfire exchange between 2 experts on CDI that cover changes to the updated guidelines, as well as important clinical pearls in the prevention and management of CDI.
